With the legalization of marijuana and cannabis in Nevada, Las Vegas, the majority of the supporters rejoiced with the news. The reason why that happened was that it meant easy access to legal weed and possibly smoking out in public without having to worry about the consequences. While Las Vegas has the biggest influx of gambling sites, the one thing that everyone was looking forward to was for the legalization of marijuana. But, that doesn’t mean you can smoke anytime around the World Series of Poker.

The use of weed around the World Series has been around even before the CBD strains became legalized around here. Irrespective of whether you are inside or even outside the place, you could smell the lingering remnants of the weed around the hallways. But, if you want access to Rio, chances are that smoking weed isn’t going to get you in.

Knowing the risks surrounding this is often considered a better option rather than being complete ambiguous about the situation.

What does the official marijuana policy suggest?

If you have been following the official rules suggested by WSOP, you’d come to know that its mentioned there that smoking of the marijuana or any kind of drug use inside the premise is prohibited and could even be arrested by the police and banned from the said property.

For those unaware of the actual implementation, you would be surprised to know that statistics suggest that over 15 years, several people have been imprisoned and kicked off of the property for smoking weed inside the premises.

What does the law suggest?

As per the guidelines made by Gaming Control Board member Terry Johnson and the board for the game licensees, it has been cleared mentioned that the prior rules are not subject to change even following the legalization of marijuana in Nevada.

Owing to the better safety of the people around and inside, there is always a police car stating outside the World Series.

According to the memo, it suggests stating that possession along with the sale of marijuana is considered a federal crime. A similar kind of concept does apply to the condition of smoking weed as well stating that even if smoking weed is legalized in Nevada, doing so inside the WSOP isn’t legal.

WSOP Vice President of Corporate Communication, Seth Palansky addressed the issue saying that they always have local law enforcement on their property, in the parking lots and people who are caught possessing, selling or even selling weed have been arrested from the Rio grounds.

The main concern that Palansky clarified is the fact that they want the place and environment to be safe for everyone coming and investing their money. The last thing that they need is to form some kind of disruption to that process.

They believe that even with hefty cash in your pocket, smoking weed in the premises of WSOP is going to land you in jail even though the same is legalized in the state.
